 Architecture.... Gemeenslandshuis (Common House)
The Common House of the Water Authority of Rhineland got its nowadays appearance in 1598. The beautiful Renaissance facade shows the importance of this public body, which has been responsible for the waterworks between Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and the coast since the 13th century. The Common House was used meeting venue and night residence for the board of the Authority and as permanent house for the "dyke count".
