Herman Boerhaave.... Latijnse school (Latin School)

he Latin School was the precursor of the grammar school. Pupils, mostly boys from the richer classes, were taught in Latin. Children were admitted after an exam. Boerhaave already had been taught by his father, a minister, so he could start in the third grade. Other famous pupils of this school were Rembrandt van Rijn and Jan Steen.
