Pilgrim Fathers.... Pilgrim Press

n the Pieterskerkchoorsteeg (alley) one can still find the building where William Brewster's printing press was established. The plaque in the wall commemorates this site of the Pilgrim Press. Here dissident books against King james were printed. They were smuggled to England, at the risk of a severe punishment. The Pilgrim Press caused a diplomatic argument between England and Holland. In this same building lived Rembrandt's colleague and friend Jan Lievens. At this moment the building houses a creche.
